Star Trek: Phoenix and 3rd Eye Films partner up for the production of character vignettes

Preceding the highly anticipated pilot for the already buzz-heavy Star Trek: Phoenix series, Producer Leo Roberts and Temporal Studios started filming several individual short vignettes to introduce each character appearing in the episodes. The vignettes are intended to tap into aspects of each character that may not be approached in the series, but serves as a solid cross-reference once the actual story unravels in 2009. They also serve the purpose of creating more interest as the release date approaches. Director Lucien Flynn, who is now also a Producer for the series, directed the first vignette for Councilor Tol Hadik (played by Rodrigo DeMedeiros) titled HOLLOW using the newest technology in HD cameras, the amazing RED ONE camera. The vignette was written by Rodrigo himself, with Lucien as co-writer, and will be edited by Keith Rivers. The script called for a very intense performance, but everything went smoothly, even though it was the first time that we were using the RED. Emmy award winner Brian Sipe and his amazing assistant, make up artist Darren Haffner, did the make up expertly to achieve the Trill look for Hadik, with Mr. Sipe in charge of the spots himself. The vignette will be available for viewing in a few days. Thanks to Puget Sound Access who offered their amazing studio for the production.

In the following weeks, Ben Andrews (who is also a Producer for Star Trek: Phoenix) will be filming the vignette for his character, Captain Avari, which he wrote and titled Holo-Victory. The vignette will be directed by Zach Miller, with Anthony Tackett as Director of Photography, and produced by Ben himself, Lucien Flynn and Leo Roberts. It will also be filmed with the RED ONE camera.
